BAYC is a collaborative of parents, residents, elected officials, and providers.  Our Vision for Bridgeport is that of a strong community with the resources and commitment to nurture successful children.  We want all Bridgeport’s children to be safe, healthy, and ready to fulfill their potential.  Our Mission is to work with families and the greater community to ensure access to quality early care, education and health services for all children birth to age 8.

Since the publication of the Bridgeport Blueprint for Young Children (PDF) in 2006, we have been working in groups formed from the goals outlined in the plan: Parent Engagement, Physical and Mental Health, Early Care and Education (School Readiness), and Communication & Awareness to improve outcomes for our youngest citizens.

In 2009, BAYC volunteers began working on an UPDATE to the Blueprint.   While the Mission has not changed in the UPDATE to Bridgeport’s Blueprint for Young Children, the work over the next three years will focus on ensuring that all Bridgeport's children are safe, healthy, and ready to fulfill their potential.  The strategies have been narrowed to action steps that are both achievable and measureable.  Over the next three years, reports on the progress will be made by the new Parent Leadership Council.  You can download the new plan or the summary, The UPDATE At-A-Glance.
