The Coventry STEPS (Sharing Together Enriches Potential Success) Committee was first formed in 2005 when Coventry received the School Readiness Grant from the State Department of Education. At that time, Coventry was required to form a School Readiness Council to oversee the management of the School Readiness Grant.  In 2008, Coventry became a recipient of the Discovery Grant from the William Casper Graustein Memorial Fund. The Discovery Grant brought many new opportunities to Coventry and the STEPS Committee has since widened its focus, and engaged many community partners, to address the needs of all Coventry children birth to age eight and their families.

Since 2010, STEPS  has lead the community in the development of a Community Plan for children birth- age 8.  The driving force or the "results statement" of the Plan is for all Coventry children, birth- age 8 to be Nurtured, Healthy, Engaged & Successful Leaders.  Beginning in the late fall of 2012, STEPS will begin to implement the strategies outlined in the Plan.
