Funding from the Graustein Memorial Fund allows the East Haven Early Childhood Collaborative to offer three yearly programs that play an important role in preparing East Haven children for success in school.

During the national Week of the Young Child East Haven sponsors a series of events focusing on young children and parents culminating in the Town’s annual Children’s Fair. This Fair features a wide variety of activities for children and information for parents. The Collaborative sponsors a Parents Empowering Parents (PEP) program and hosts evening dialogue sessions where parents, educators and community providers come together to better prepare children to enter kindergarten. In addition the collaborative hosts an evening discussion event that brings together parents and service providers around a topic of interest. Last year Yale University presented the Mutti-Gress curriculum.

During our time as a Discovery community the East Haven Early Childhood Collaborative authored a town wide community report focusing on early care and education, health and child and family well being as key factors in preparing East Haven children for success in school. The East Haven School district has consolidated their pre k – third grade classrooms into specific schools that allow for greater focus on the early years. This year the district begun to offer full day kindergarten.
