The Norwalk Early Childhood Council

The Norwalk Early Childhood Council was launched in 2007 to serve as the coordinated voice and action team to improve the lives of our community’s young children and their families. It was built on the strengths of Norwalk’s former School Readiness Council, Norwalk Kids Start Smart (Norwalk’s former Discovery Initiative), and the Norwalk Healthy Families Collaborative.

The Council assumes responsibility for implementing Norwalk’s Early Childhood Action Plan with the support and oversight of the Mayor and Superintendent of Schools. The collaborative efforts of the Council work to support the following goals:

Goal 1-All Norwalk children birth to age nine are ready to meet the challenges of school and life.

Goal 2-All Norwalk children birth to age nine have healthy bodies, healthy teeth and healthy minds.

Goal 3-All Norwalk children birth to age nine are safe, healthy and ready to meet the challenges of school and life.

To learn more about our accomplishments over the last two years please view the featured rescource progress report: Snapshots of Success: How Norwalk is Building a Better Community for its Young Children.
