The mission of the Shelton School Readiness Council is to ensure that all children in Shelton are ready for Kindergarten by the time they enter elementary school.  The Council was formed to build greater public awareness about school readiness skills and to link parents of preschoolers aged 3 to 4 and younger to the educational resources available in Shelton.

The Shelton School Readiness Council has four key objectives that we address as a collaborative:

1. Increase community awareness about the benefits of all children being ready for school
2. Strengthen the connections between early care and education programs and the school district
3. Enhance the Kindergarten transition process in Shelton
4. Increase the Council's capacity to provide leadership on early childhood issues.

Our motto,First Years Last Forever, confirms our strong belief that early years build the foundation for a child's success in school and later in life.
