Discovery communities are collecting and using information to assess their progress against specific local goals. Information includes both quantitative data and the stories of the people involved in or affected by the early childhood programs. For those using a Results Based Accountability approach, both of these kinds of data are important to understanding what is going on and how effective strategies really are.
Discovery supports statewide efforts to gather and use data across all agencies and nonprofit organizations. At the same time, Discovery works with communities and statewide partners to build the capacity of parents and others to do their own research and to tell their own stories. High quality data, easier access to data and the stories of those most affected will support better decision-making by both public and private institutions.
