Danbury Children First and Connecticut Parent Power are co-sponsoring a Candidate Forum on the evening of October 16. US Congressional candidates from the Fifth District and Connecticut State Senate and House of Representative Candidates have been invited to attend. The focus: Issues that affect children and families in the Danbury area. The Forum will be held at Broadview Middle School in the auditorium (with childcare available in the cafeteria). The evening will begin with a reception for parents and voter registration at 5:30. The Forum will begin at 6:30.

The NGA Center for Best Practices and and the Chapin Hall Center for Children are sponsoring a web conference-- Collaborations to Promote Early Childhood Education and Childcare on September 9th at 1:00. Speakers will discuss innovative practices and policy options aimed at improving access to and the quality of early childhood education and childcare. Speakers will address challenges providers face in offering a seamless delivery of services and the efforts of state-level Early Childhood Advisory Councils to coordinate services for children up to age five. Panelists will also discuss the importance of having sound data to monitor program effectiveness.
